It's finally here, the end of the school year is upon us. As we reflect back on the school year we're filled with a great sense of accomplishment over how well each individual member of the bands have improved throughout. We're very grateful to the community for the passage of Issue 12 which ensures that the teaching team we've had in the band department remains intact so that we are able to continue to work for the betterment of our band program as a three member team. So we have much to be thankful for. We're thankful for the students, for their hard work, parents for your support, and to our own families for all of the love and support they show the three of us. Our band booster organization and band parents do so much for all of the bands, we couldn't be a successful program without our boosters!
Incoming 6th Graders: If you have no turned in a signed band contract, please do so ASAP. We cannot schedule you for the band until we have a contract in hand. General Reminders: Summer is a great time to get your instrument cleaned and serviced so that it is ready to go for the beginning of next school year. To keep playing over the summer we encourage the students to pursue private lessons. We will be passing out a letter with the names of area private teachers. Please consider taking lessons to ensure your student maintains and improves their abilities over the summer. Above all, please don't let those instruments sit in their cases all summer long! Not only will you not be "in shape" as a player come the beginning of the year, but you may find that you have sluggish keys or stuck valves/slides. We hope you are actively practicing this summer! 8th Graders Moving Onto High School: Watch for an important mailing with all of the information you'll need regarding the marching band schedule. We'll have music for you next week that you can be practicing over the summer, and your section leaders should be contacting you about having some summer practices before the official start of band. The first day of rehearsal is Monday July 22 at 8 a.m. sharp. We look forward to what should be another great marching season. Thank you again for the wonderful support given to the LMS/LHS Bands this year. Despite this being a transitional year for us, we felt that it was a strong year and a sign of great things to come.

Good Morning!
First off we'd like to congratulate the High School Bands for a fantastic concert last night. We're incredibly proud of our HS bands and the hard work and growth they've displayed during concert season. Speaking of concerts, the MS Bands will give our Spring Concert THIS THURSDAY May 9th at 7:00 p.m. in the LMS Auditeria. The students will report at 6:30. Dress for the concert is formal: boys-shirt and tie, dress pants, dress socks/shoes; ladies-a dress or a skirt and blouse. All school dress code rules apply. The concert should conclude shortly after 8 p.m. Please come out and support the bands for their final concert of the year. We are so pleased with our middle school students and all of their working throughout the year. If you are the parent of an 8th grader that is moving up to the HS band, please consider attending our Band Booster meetings. Our next meeting is Tuesday, May 7th at 7:30 in the HS band room. We're already gearing up for the marching season! Please remember that the band directors truly appreciate the wonderful support you give us. We are proud and blessed to work with the fine students in the Louisville Bands. See you Thursday night! |
