Good morning!
This blog post is for our 7th and 8th grade saxophone students. Kent State University is offering a special performance opportunity for local middle school and high school saxophone students! On Sunday, November 15th, KSU will hold its 2nd Annual Saxophone Day. Several LHS saxophone students and I attended this same event last year, and we greatly enjoyed all of the learning experiences we gained from performing in both the classical and jazz ensemble settings, attending masterclass clinics, watching performances and visiting vendor booths. I have already announced the event in class and started passing out registration forms to the students who have already showed interest, but if you would like to view the registration form, schedule and other info, please click on the link below.
Interested LMS saxophone students will circle the "classical" performance group so they can stay with me all day. Before the event begins, all participants and parent drivers (which I will organize a car pool list at the beginning of November) will meet at LHS, and then we will drive to KSU together. This meeting time will probably occur around 8:00am. Families are more than welcome and encouraged to attend the closing concert before the students are dismissed from the event. The students will need to have their own rides home after the concert.
To help me plan the event, I do ask that the students give me their completed registration forms and money. The $20 registration fee covers all of the activities for the day and includes an event T-shirt. If students would like a provided lunch, please add an extra $8. Checks can be made to "KSU School of Music." To give me ample time to register all of our interested LHS and LMS students, I would appreciate receiving the forms and money by Tuesday, October 13th.
As always, thank you for your constant support of music in our schools! Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns.
