It's hard to believe we're almost through February and looking forward to Spring and the end of the school year. There are a few bits of information I want to pass along to you about some of our upcoming events.
Band Festival
As you know, our 77th annual Band Festival is fast approaching. This week your student should have brought home an envelope containing raffle tickets as well as an informational letter regarding the Festival. I have attached the letter to this email just in case it didn't make it home.
The Band Festival is an opportunity for ALL Louisville Band students to perform together for our community. It is also one of our Band Boosters largest fund-raising efforts of the year. The bulk of the fundraiser comes from the sale of the raffle tickets included in the envelope from earlier this week. We are asking students to try and sell the 36 raffle tickets they each were given. The prizes are listed on the tickets as well as in the letter attached to the email. Many students have asked for additional tickets to sell, and we are giving out as many as we can! Thank you for your assistance in this effort. I know there are many fundraisers for a multitude of groups during the year and we appreciate any level of participation you choose.
There are volunteer opportunities for the Festival as well. Please refer to the attached letter for information on who to contact regarding volunteering at the Festival.
Student report time for Saturday, March 12th is 6:30pm at the High School Choir Room.
Dress code is slightly relaxed from our Winter/Spring concerts. Gentlemen may wear a button down shirt or polo shirt with a pair of khakis. No shorts or denim please. Ladies may also wear dress pants or khakis with a dressier top. Again, please no shorts or denim. The concert portion begins at 7pm and should wrap up by 8:30. We will need the students' assistance in tearing down and loading equipment afterwards.
If this will be your first Band Festival, I think you are in for a treat. Your students have been doing an excellent job preparing for this performance and we're sure you'll be proud of what they've accomplished thus far.
Spring Concert
Our Spring Concert will be held on Tuesday, May 3 at 7:00pm once again in the LMS Gym. We will make every effort to have ample seating available. The concert will follow the same format as our Winter Concert and should conclude no later than 8pm. Dress for the Spring Concert will be the same as the Winter Concert.
Scheduling for 2016-2017
Students will soon begin scheduling for next school year. We hope that your student has enjoyed learning an instrument and wishes to continue on into the 7th Grade Band. The band has been exceptional this year and each student has contributed to the group's success. We sincerely hope that everyone returns for next year. We can't wait to see and hear their continued growth and progress! If you have any questions about next year's band, please contact myself or Mrs. Markiewicz.
As always, if you have any questions please contact any of the three directors. Have a wonderful weekend and upcoming month of March!
