A few quick notes: 8th Graders-The Band Booster Sausage/Best of the Best Fundraiser is on! Students can accept orders until Friday Feb. 8 when the forms will be collected during band. This is a great way for students to earn money for their Student Accounts! Orders are due Feb. 8 Pickup is Feb 23 Money is due Feb. 28. Clarinet and Saxophone Players: The directors are concerned about the condition of the reeds some individuals are using. We've seen cracked, chipped, and moldy reeds being used. This is unacceptable as it does not allow you to play with your best sound. If you have a damaged reed, please replace it ASAP. 7th and 8th grade reed players may purchase reeds by the box of 5 for $10.50 (clarinet) and $13.50 (saxophone). Please make every effort to have functioning reeds. A note on practice: It is an expectation of the band directors that students practice at home. There is growing concern that a large number of students are not practicing enough outside of school. We do not expect hours of practice a night but 15-30 minutes is a good target to shoot for. Remember, in order to receive an A+ on the practice sheet 120 minutes of practice must be recorded. Parents, please verify your student's sheet and sign the bottom. It is important to the success of each individual student, and the success of the band, that regular practice is occurring at home. The directors will be in Columbus Thursday and Friday this coming week for the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) 2013 Professional Development Conference. It's a great opportunity for the directors to gain useful knowledge about rehearsal techniques, trends in music education, technology, and to find potential pieces for future use. There will be subs
