Good Morning!
First off we'd like to congratulate the LHS Band on another stellar competition performance last weekend at Copley HS. The band places 2nd in Class A (out of 7 Bands) and finished 3rd place overall (13 bands) and received the award for Best Overall General Effect regardless of band class. The band will perform at tonight's football game against Alliance and heads to New Philadelphia HS tomorrow evening for our last competition before State Marching Band Finals. The LHS Band performs at 8:45 tomorrow night. We are so proud of our LHS and LMS students who have been working since late July on what has been a fantastic marching season. Please continue to encourage student practice at home. We have noticed that practice sheets have declined and sectional assignments are not as well prepared as they could in some cases. At home practice is an important aspect of success in the band program If you have concerns or questions about practice time please contact a director. Our Winter Concert is fast approaching. December 10th is fast approaching so mark your calendars and

Good Morning!
We've had a great (but short) week here in the Band Dept. Each group is now well into working on our music for the upcoming Winter Concert. Please ask and encourage your student to play for you at home. We'd like every student to spend a portion of their daily practice time on their concert music in addition to their sectional assignments. Consistent practice is the key to success! The marching band will be performing at two area band competitions at Copley HS tomorrow (10/19) and New Philadelphia (10/26). The Copley performance time is 6:30pm and the New Phila. performance time is 8:45. Check out the HS band's Facebook page or website for more detailed itineraries of these events. The end of the marching season is upon us as State Marching Band Finals approaches. Our students have worked very hard since late July to earn the privilege to perform at state finals! Once marching band is over, Mr. B, Mr. Stankey, and Mrs. Markiewicz will be offering private lessons. There are also other area private instructors we can recommend. We HIGHLY encourage private study with a qualified instructor. Lessons are typically 30 minutes long and are reasonably priced. Any student taking a weekly 30 min lesson will receive 60 min. of practice time on their practice sheet! Please contact one of us if you are interested in lessons. Have a great weekend! Good Morning!
It's been another busy week for the bands as we're all diving into our Winter Concert music. We're very pleased with how well each band is playing so far and we're looking forward to performing for your on December 10th. Please be aware of the dress requirements for the concert. Gentleman are expected to wear a shirt and tie, dress pants, dress socks, and dress shoes. Ladies are expected to wear a dress or a skirt and blouse with appropriate shoes. All dresses/skirts must be within school dress code. We will be reminding students about the dress code often as we draw closer to the concert. We're so proud of our LHS band students for what has been a successful marching season up to this point. We're also proud of several of our 8th grade band members for participating either as a marcher or as a band aide. These LMS students are doing a great job! The HS marching band will perform at all remaining LHS football games (including postseason) and at two OMEA local marching band events at Copley HS and New Philadelphia HS. The band has been busy since our last competition and has been adding new visual work designed to enhance the show. Check back here or on the LHS Band site www.theprideoflouisville.com or www.facebook.com/th Good afternoon, 7th Grade Band members!

I'd first like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone for a very successful Fall Fundraiser for the bands. We had the final count settled this week and thanks to you we were able to raise over $4500 for the middle school band program. Thank you! After today each of the bands have their Winter Concert music in their possession. Each band has five pieces that we will be working on between now and December 10th. Students should be practicing this music at home regularly to ensure that we are making adequate progress in our rehearsals. We look forward to sharing these pieces with you at the concert! Please be sure that your student has the accessories they need to keep their instruments in good working order. Trumpet/Cornet/Horn/Baritone/Tuba players must have valve oil and tuning slide grease. Trombone players need slide oil or slide cream (slide cream preferred) and tuning slide grease. All brass players should have a mouthpiece brush and a snake brush for cleaning the instrument. Woodwind players must have 3-4 good, playable reeds at all times and a swab to absorb moisture. All of these accessories are available for purchase from the band directors. Any items not in stock can be ordered and delivered to school on Tuesdays. We want to be sure that everyone's instrument is working properly. Attention all 8th Grade Band Students: If you would like an LHS Marching Band Hoodie, the orders are due tomorrow 10/3. Hoodies cost $14.00 each up to XL. Each larger size is an additional $1.
