Please fill in the middle of each row leaving empty seats on the outside of rows. There will be seats roped off for the students to sit in during the other bands performances. Parents are welcome to record the concert. We take a video and audio recording of the concert for our archives. At the conclusion of the concert we ask that students assist in clearing the stage and returning chairs and equipment back to the band room. We are looking forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday night! W

Hello!
We're in the final stages of our preparations for the Winter Concert on Tuesday December 4, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Students will be asked to report at 6:30 p.m. for attendance and warmup. Attendance at the concert is mandatory except in the case of a personal illness or family emergency. Please review the dress code requirements listed in the course syllabus found under the documents tab on the main page. We are looking forward to sharing what we've worked so hard to prepare. All students are asked to remain for the duration of the concert to support the other groups as well as assist with tear-down after we're finished. Next week is a short week with the Thanksgiving holiday. We hope you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy some rest and relaxation with family and friends. Good Morning!
All of the groups are working hard in anticipation of our first concert on 12/4! It's important that as we approach the first performance that students are working hard on their music at home. There is no substitute for individual practice time. Please take time to review the concert dress requirements listed on the syllabus in the documents section of the site. Details have also been posted in prior blog posts. As always we're so thankful for the opportunity to work with these students every day. Have a great week! Good morning, 7th Grade Band!
Here is a listening list of almost all of our concert songs: Albany Fanfare: http://www.jwpepper.com/10279396.item Deck the Halls with Rock n Roll: http://www.jwpepper.com/10279394.item It's Holiday Time: http://www.jwpepper.com/It%27s-Holiday-Time/10093304.item I do not have a recording for "Nutcracker Suite" or "Old Irish Tune," as they are older pieces. I will try to convert my music writing software file of "Irish Tune" and post it soon for you. I find it hard to believe that we have only fourteen rehearsals left until our first concert! Let's all work hard in rehearsal, sectionals, Academic Prep, and during our practice sessions at home so we can give our best performance possible on December 4th! Thank you! Miss M. Good Morning!
First off, I'd like to congratulate the LHS Marching Band on receiving an Excellent rating at State Marching Band Finals. We're incredibly proud of the students for their hard work and dedication during the season. I'd also like to thank all of the parents who helped out this season. From helping in the uniform room, loading and unloading the bus, driving the bus, helping on the field with equipment, and countless other things, our parents are truly awesome. We appreciate everything you've done throughout the season! Now that marching band is over, our focus can begin to shift towards upcoming activities at LMS. For 7th and 8th graders this means Jazz Band is starting up. Jazz Bands will begin meeting soon. We've already had a lot of interest from the students, so we're excited to get going. The Jazz Bands will each perform at the Band Festival on April 6. Don't forget about the Winter Concert coming up on 12/4. Hard to believe we're only a month away! Please refer to this site or the handout given on the first day of school regarding dress code for the concert. Contact us ASAP if there is an issue. 8th grade students and parents-The Fruit Sale is ongoing. Order forms are due on 11/12. Fruit pick-up will be 11/30 at Biery Cheese. Your student will sign up for a time where you can drive up and receive your order. All fruit money will be due 12/6. November is a time to reflect on the many things we are thankful for, and I think I can speak for myself and the other band directors when I say that we're incredibly thankful for our students and the opportunity to be a part of the Louisville community. Tuesday is Election Day, please make sure you |
