We are looking to start at least 2 of each of these instruments. Once we have determined who will start on these instruments we will send information home to those parents. Private Lessons-Starting in early February Mr. Stankey will have openings for anyone interested in private lessons on all brass instruments. Please give Mr. Stankey an e-mail or phone call to set up a lesson time. Private lessons are the best way for students to gain individual attention and instruction in a one-on-one setting. Please contact Mr. Stankey for more information Step Up Instruments-Sometime during the second half of the year there will be an opportunity for students and parents to get information about Step Up Instruments. These are intermediate to professional model instruments that will allow your student to maximize their potential. More information will be available in the near future. Please ask Mr. Bleininger or Mr. Stankey any questions regarding your involvement in the LHS band. Fall athletes are not required to march but that does not mean you cannot be in the concert band! We have many fall athletes who join us after the fall season for concert band. You have taken many years to develop your musical talents at LMS and we hope you continue to refine those talents in the high school! High School Fundraiser-All 8th grade students will be eligible to participate in the upcoming LHS Band Booster Sausage/Best of the Best Sale. As promised, here is a listening list for the ensemble. The link should take you to the 7th Grade Twitter account and then you will click the link in the most recent tweet. This last link will take you to the shared Spotify listening list. Let me know if you have any problems accessing you jazz listening list! Enjoy! Good Morning!
Things have been busy here in the band department as we continue pressing forward towards our Winter Concert. The concert is on Tuesday, December 10th at 7:00pm in the LMS Auditeria. Students will report at 6:30pm. We ask that all students remain for the duration of the concert. Each band has been working very hard to prepare a wonderful evening of music for you. We are excited to share the product of much hard work on December 10th. The concert is FREE and open to the public. CONGRATULATIONS to our Pride of Louisville for the conclusion of a successful marching season topped off with a Superior Rating at State Marching Band Finals! We couldn't be more proud of our students for their hard work and dedication all season long. Thank you as well to the wonderful team of parents who traveled with the band and assisted with all manner of things. The success we enjoyed is a product of the hard work and commitment of so many. Our success is truly a team effort! With Thanksgiving and Winter Break approaching it would be a great idea to consider sending your instrument out for cleaning and or maintenance. The directors have shown the students how to properly clean out their instruments and will again review how to do these things prior to the break. Protect your investment by properly maintaining these instruments. Thank you for your continued support of the LMS Bands! Good Morning!
I'd like to start off by wishing the 10-0 LHS Football Team the best of luck tonight against Aurora! Everyone is proud of our team for their outstanding season and NBC Championship. The marching band will follow the team throughout the playoffs. If (or should I say when?) we win tonight we will play again next Friday. We will plan to rehearse marching band on Wednesdays until 4:00pm as long as we remain in the playoffs. If the weather is bad on Wednesdays, then Thursdays will be our fallback day. It truly is an exciting time to be a Leopard! Best of luck to the Pride of Louisville as we travel to Brunswick HS for the OMEA State Marching Band Finals tomorrow. The Pride of Louisville has a tradition of success at SMBF and we hope tomorrow see another Superior Rating come home to Louisville. Our marching band has had a truly fantastic season and the directors and staff could not be more proud of what they have accomplished and the way in which they achieved their goals this season. This band has worked incredibly hard in practice and those results are evident when they perform. The directors and staff also wish to extend our most sincere thanks to all of the band parents who support the band. We have the best parents around and without you we would not be nearly as successful as we are. From our moms in the uniform room to our dads who man the loading crew and everyone effort moving the pit equipment around, we have needs in many areas and you the parents always answer the call. We are so grateful to all of you for your tireless effort and dedication to these kids and the band program. Thank you!! For our Middle School Bands, our Winter Concert is coming up very soon! We will be providing updates in the coming weeks regarding important concert details so stay tuned! Good Morning!
November is upon us which means our Winter Concert is only a few weeks away! The concert will be held Tuesday, December 10th at 7:00pm right here at the LMS Auditeria. Students will be asked to report at 6:30pm. Gentlemen are expected to wear a dress shirt with tie, dress pants, and dress shoes (these can be any color, khaki, black, blue, etc.) Ladies are expected to wear a dress or a skirt with blouse along with nice shoes. All items must fall within the school dress code! Each band is performing 5 pieces of music ranging from marches to Holiday favorites. The concert is free to the public. We ask that all students remain for the duration of the performance. If you have any questions regarding this concert please contact a band director. Students should be practicing their concert music at home as much as possible. The bands are progressing nicely up to this point but we have many areas that need refinement before this first performance. We are excited about what your students are doing with this music and we think you'll enjoy our concert very much. Our Pride of Louisville had another exciting weekend at the New Philadelphia Band Competition. There were 19 competing bands in attendance and the LHSMB finished 2nd overall and 2nd in our class (Class A). The Pride of Louisville was proud to receive the Best Overall Music award as well. The band also earned straight Superior ratings from the adjudicators. Our final competitive performance is next Saturday (11/9) at Brunswick HS for OMEA State Marching Band Finals. The Pride of Louisville performs at 2:45pm. A full schedule of times for next Saturday can be found at www.theprideoflouisville.com or our Facebook page www.facebook.com/theprideoflouisville . We are so proud of our students for their hard work and dedication this marching season and we are equally excited about the future of the LHS band as we see our LMS bands working and improving each day. Good Morning!
First off we'd like to congratulate the LHS Band on another stellar competition performance last weekend at Copley HS. The band places 2nd in Class A (out of 7 Bands) and finished 3rd place overall (13 bands) and received the award for Best Overall General Effect regardless of band class. The band will perform at tonight's football game against Alliance and heads to New Philadelphia HS tomorrow evening for our last competition before State Marching Band Finals. The LHS Band performs at 8:45 tomorrow night. We are so proud of our LHS and LMS students who have been working since late July on what has been a fantastic marching season. Please continue to encourage student practice at home. We have noticed that practice sheets have declined and sectional assignments are not as well prepared as they could in some cases. At home practice is an important aspect of success in the band program If you have concerns or questions about practice time please contact a director. Our Winter Concert is fast approaching. December 10th is fast approaching so mark your calendars and Good Morning!
We've had a great (but short) week here in the Band Dept. Each group is now well into working on our music for the upcoming Winter Concert. Please ask and encourage your student to play for you at home. We'd like every student to spend a portion of their daily practice time on their concert music in addition to their sectional assignments. Consistent practice is the key to success! The marching band will be performing at two area band competitions at Copley HS tomorrow (10/19) and New Philadelphia (10/26). The Copley performance time is 6:30pm and the New Phila. performance time is 8:45. Check out the HS band's Facebook page or website for more detailed itineraries of these events. The end of the marching season is upon us as State Marching Band Finals approaches. Our students have worked very hard since late July to earn the privilege to perform at state finals! Once marching band is over, Mr. B, Mr. Stankey, and Mrs. Markiewicz will be offering private lessons. There are also other area private instructors we can recommend. We HIGHLY encourage private study with a qualified instructor. Lessons are typically 30 minutes long and are reasonably priced. Any student taking a weekly 30 min lesson will receive 60 min. of practice time on their practice sheet! Please contact one of us if you are interested in lessons. Have a great weekend! |
