Good Morning!
Despite the warm weather we've enjoyed this week, we are looking ahead to winter. As I've mentioned before, our first concert is coming up on December 4th at 7:00 p.m. here at LMS. The students are busy preparing their pieces for this first performance and myself, Miss Mariano, and Mr. B are thrilled with the progress we're making. All of the bands are sounding very good and still have several weeks to take things to the next level. We think you'll enjoy the performance that evening. I'd like to wish the LHS Marching Band GOOD LUCK as we head to Hilliard Bradley HS tomorrow for OMEA State Marching Band Finals. Our goal is to return to Louisville with a state "Superior" rating once again. We've had a great marching band season highlighted by delivering state-qualifying performances at every competition we attended as well as scoring the highest the band has scored since 2005. The dedication of the students and staff as well as the selfless dedication shown by our parent volunteers have helped make this season truly successful. I'd also like to thank those 8th grade students who helped out the band by marching or serving as band aides throughout the season. We're so proud of the band, and thankful for the many hands who make it possible! The HS band is currently holding the annual Fruit Sale. If you are interested in purchasing any fruit, contact any HS band member or any 8th grade band member to place an order. The proceeds of this fundraiser go to the Louisville Band Boosters. As we enter the second 9 weeks I'd like to remind students and parents of the importance of completing and turning in the weekly Practice Sheet every Monday (or first day of the week). Practice Sheets are a full 10% of the overall grade in band. Many students failed to turn in any practice sheets during the first 9 weeks. Remember, if you take a private lesson on your instrument from a qualified teacher, you get 60 minutes of practice time (for a 30 min. lesson). Lessons can go a long way in improving overall performance and confidence while boosting your grade. Contact a director for more info
